Walking Together Across East Cheshire and Beyond
East Cheshire Ramblers is a friendly and active local group of the Ramblers, the UK’s walking charity. We welcome people of all ages and abilities who enjoy exploring the countryside, discovering new places, and sharing the benefits of walking with others.
Based in the heart of East Cheshire, our walks take in some of the finest landscapes in the region, including the Peak District, the Cheshire countryside, the Staffordshire Moorlands, and beyond. Whether you’re looking for a gentle stroll, a challenging hill walk, or an adventurous scramble, you’ll find something to suit your interests.
What We Do
Our varied programme includes:
🚶 Regular weekday and weekend walks
⛰️ Longer and more challenging hill walks
🧗 Peak District scrambling adventures
🗺️ Navigation and map-reading training
🥾 Walk leader development and support
🍽️ Social events and group gatherings
🌿 Footpath protection and countryside access work
All walks are led by experienced volunteer Walk Leaders who help create a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming experience for everyone.
New Walkers Welcome
You don’t need any previous experience to join us on a walk. Many of our members joined simply because they wanted to get outdoors, meet new people, and enjoy the countryside.
Walking with East Cheshire Ramblers is a great way to:

- Discover new walking routes
- Meet like-minded people
- Build confidence in the outdoors
- Explore some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes
We encourage new walkers to browse our walks programme and come along to a walk that matches their ability and interests. You can try three walks with us before becoming a Ramblers Member.
Protecting Our Paths
As part of the Ramblers movement, we are passionate about protecting public rights of way and improving access to the countryside.
Our volunteers help monitor local footpaths, report problems, and work with local authorities to ensure paths remain open, safe, and accessible for everyone.
