Description
You can click on [What makes a good walk description?] if you need some guidance.
If you already have your walk information in e.g. a Word document, you can cut and paste it by using either the copy and paste commands, or you can use the shortcuts. On your keyboard type Ctrl C to copy your text and Ctrl V to paste the text in the walk description box. If you prefer you can type the description straight into the box.
If your walk has a combination of walking grades, e.g. Easy/Moderate put this in the description of the walk.
Make sure you add information about the route. Describe the ground conditions and how easy or difficult the ascent will be. If you know the source of your total ascent add this information in your description; figure in feet/meters followed by brackets e.g. 1000ft (OS) for Ordnance Survey, or 1000ft/meters (OA) for Outdooractive.
Please give some indication about the pace of the group/walk. You may find this link useful. https://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking-hub/how-fast-should-i-be-walking You can also add information about any points of interest.
Walks Manager does not support the inclusion of GPX files. If you have a GPX file for your walk please include this information in your description and ask walkers to contact you if they require it.
Additional Details - add whether walkers need to book a place on the walk. Ask them to bring their ICE card, and let them know whether they need to bring refreshments/lunch poles etc. You can also add whether they can bring dogs or not.
Add a website link - either copy and paste or enter the new website address https://www.ramblerseastcheshire.org.uk/ The next time you add a walk, the system will remember this web address.
Select any Facilities, Accessibility and Transport as appropriate.
Add up to 5 images - ignore this if you wish or add jpeg pictures from your computer, tablet or phone. Select them one at a time, give them a suitable caption or title and then add the next one.

Select a circular or linear walk. Further details for linear walks are available in the Appendix below.
For a CIRCULAR walk enter a starting point in the box above the map. Delete the default address and type in a grid reference, or post code, or the name of your start point. You can move the blue pin on the map to get it precisely where you need your start point to be. This is easier to do on a PC/Laptop.
Below the map you will see that the OS grid ref, latitude & longitude, easting & northing, what3words and nearest post code have automatically been calculated.
Location details – add any information which may be useful e.g. car park charges, where to park or find you, ‘park in the lay-by next to the Red Lion pub’ or ‘meet by the clock’.
