Many of us have used the footpath on the side of the railway bridge over the Mawddach estuary at Barmouth. It is a splendid walk in its own right as well as forming a link in routes over the hills at both sides of the estuary.
There is now a suggestion that Gwynedd council are considering the money saving idea of ceasing their £30,000 annual grant to Network Rail to maintain the walkway. The future of the path must be in doubt if this is done.
