The site provides access to an interactive map so that you can say precisely where the problem is.

On Saturday 19th November members said ‘Thank you’ to Jane Gay as she stepped down as Chair of East Cheshire Ramblers. Jane has been one of the most active committee members of ECR completing eleven years of office, often with multiple roles; as Social Secretary, Chair and Area Chair. 

 As Social Secretary Jane developed a very comprehensive number of social activities enjoyed by members throughout many years; organising festive meals, weekends away and speakers to name but a few.

Both Jane and Frank have attended most away weekends, recceing and leading walks, and organising accommodation and meals.   They have all been very successful weekends with many members attending in various parts of the country. 

Jane has also been a Short Walk Coordinator for many, many years and she has an uncanny knack on walks of ‘encouraging’ new walk leaders to join the team! Both Jane and Frank certainly lead by example. Both have been very active walk leaders in the short and stroller walks programme. 

During her five years as Chair Jane worked hard to developing strong links with the Footpath Committee and Walk Leader Coordinators. She also played a major role in developing our own Walk Leader Training Programme.  Without doubt Jane recognises that at the heart of ECRs success is a full walking programme and excellent footpaths to walk on!

Jane has also represented our group beyond East Cheshire. She has been the Cheshire East Area Chair for two years and she has also attended National Ramblers events. 

Jane has been a brilliant Chair. Her good humour, common sense, generosity and sound guidance have always underpinned her role. Jane led ECR through two years of Covid, in her ‘no nonsense’ style she ensured our programme continued to flourish despite increased bureaucracy from Ramblers HQ!  In short Jane Gay does not get in a flap; she ensures common sense prevails!

Jane has volunteered to continue to support ECR, as a committee member and she will continue to coordinate the Weekend Walk Short Walk Programme.

Thank you Jane, for everything. We all hope you will now have more time to play tennis, travel, and spend time with family and friends.  Your energy, enthusiasm and commitment have been ‘simply marvellous’!
