Pickering<\/strong> is an ancient market\ntown<\/a> in\nthe Ryedale<\/a> district of North\nYorkshire<\/a>, England, on\nthe border of the North York Moors National Park<\/a>. Historically<\/a> part of the North Riding of Yorkshire<\/a>, it sits at the foot of the moors,\noverlooking the Vale\nof Pickering<\/a> to\nthe south. The town as it exists today is of medieval<\/a> origin. From Pickering there is easy access to the\nNorth Yorkshire Moors by road, bus or train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Walks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I hope to offer the 3 grades of walks on both\ndays and would be grateful of offers to lead walks. I know the area quite well\nand will be able to help with suggested walks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Saturday\nGroup Evening meal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This will be at the Forest and Vale Hotel. We\nshall have sole use of their attractive dining room. I will circulate a meal choice form in due course, the cost being\naround \u00a326 for 3 courses and tea\/coffee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Friday\nevening meal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There are many pubs in Pickering plus other\nplaces to eat but I can organise a group meal in the Forest and Vale hotel\nwhich will be simple. E.g. Pie and chips or Fish and Chips details to follow\nlater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunday\nevening meal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The hotel does meals in the brasserie\/bar and\nit will be possible to arrange tables and times to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Accommodation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Forest\nand Vale Hotel \u2013 <\/strong>this is a very pleasant hotel situated on the roundabout between of\nthe A170 and A169 close to the town centre with parking. They require us to\noccupy a reasonable number of rooms in order to have the main dining room on\nthe Saturday evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Cost of rooms is for Bed and Breakfast with\nTea\/Cake on arrival and is as follows<\/p>\n\n\n\n Standard \u00a3230\n2 nights \u00a3345 for 3\nnights<\/p>\n\n\n\n Executive \u00a3261\n \u00a3391.50<\/p>\n\n\n\n Superior \u00a3290 \u00a3453<\/p>\n\n\n\n A double room for single occupancy is \u00a320 a\nnight cheaper per room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To book\nplease contact the hotel 01751 472722 and mention ECR as they reserved rooms\nuntil the end of January for us to book. You will be asked for a deposit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Other\naccommodation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking on the Internet you will find plenty\nof B and B\u2019s plus self-catering accommodation. Pickering is a popular town and\nso much of it is of a high standard but not cheap. I visited nearby places<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Black Swan \u2013 close by 9 rooms well reviewed\nand looked pleasant.
