ITINERARY
START at 9.30am Over Haddon Large pay and display car park in centre of village (2042664)
Pick up a footpath just west of the village and follow across fields to Magpie Mine remains.
Visit the mine site, and break for lunch.
From Magpie site to minor road and on to Green Lane bridle track, to Haddon Grove Farm and by bridle track past Mill Farm and into Lathkilldale.
East along Lathkilldale, visiting Bateman’s house and mine shaft, and Mandale Mine on the way.
From Lathkill Lodge (202661) follow steep minor road back to Over Haddon.
Distance about 6 miles (minimum)
Terrain Field paths, stony tracks and a few short stretches of road. One or two steep parts. Walking poles useful.
Equipment This is a full day walk in the Derbyshire limestone area. The weather is unpredictable even in the summer. You need waterproof jacket and trousers, hat and gloves, walking boots or walking shoes, sun hat and sun cream!
Food We will be out in the countryside all day and will not pass any cafes. Bring a Packed lunch and plenty to drink.
Charge £4 per head. MINIMUM OF 10 and MAXIMUM OF 20 PEOPLE.
