STROLLER WALKS 22nd APRIL to 7th October 2022

The Stroller Walk Programme will start on Friday 22nd April 2022. The walks will take place on a Friday, every fortnight, and will start at 10.30 unless stated on the walk information on the East Cheshire Website (

Stroller walks are intended for members who prefer a short, easy, flat walk with minimum stiles and ascents. Walkers may also be recovering from an injury or health issues and may want to take gentle walks to build up their stamina.

Stroller walks may also encourage new walkers, who may wish to walk in a group for the first time, to try a walk with East Cheshire Ramblers.


RecceThe route selected will be recced before the walk
Risk AssessmentThe Walk Leader will complete a Risk Assessment form after they have recced the walk
Distance3 to 4 miles
PaceAn easy pace with frequent stops to ensure the group is comfortable
LocationStarting points for the walks will be preferably within 20 minutes drive from Macclesfield or Wilmslow and will, if possible, start at a free (preferred) car park
TerrainThe footpaths will be in flat areas (canals or dismantled railways) and any ups and downs will be minimal and very gradual
Stiles or stepsIf included they will be checked to ensure they are in good condition and where there may be a concern the Walk Leader will advise the members of the group. If ladder stiles can’t be avoided they should be highlighted at start
StopsA stop for ‘coffee/drink/snack’ will be provided at an appropriate place half way round the walk
WeatherIf the weather forecast is for continuous rain or very bad weather the Walk Leader will cancel before or at the start of the walk
WalkersWalkers are encouraged to share any serious health issues with the Walk Leader at the start of the walk to ensure anyone with special requirements can be assisted if necessary ( i.e. recovering from hip operation or new to walking/ECR)
In Case of Emergency (ICE)Walkers should carry/have an In Case of Emergency (ICE) card or some means of contacting someone in an emergency
PublicityThe walks will be publicised on the East Cheshire Website two weeks before the walk
