The first Stroller Walk of 2021 was blessed with glorious weather. Fifteen walkers joined the gentle stroll which started at Redesmere, where local legend has it that the lake once had a floating island, and continued past the sailing club before crossing the A34 onto the Capesthorn Estate. The estate is still owned by the Bromley-Davenport family and the house, built in the Tudor revival style, now offers events, wedding venues and conferences. From there we followed quiet country lanes, past a crop of ‘Honey Berry Bushes’ which are being cultivated on organic land off Congleton Lane.
The route then took us past Blake House Farm, a famous local cheese maker, before re-joining the A34 and on to our return at Redesmere.
