For the fourth year running I will be leading a ‘Long Walkers’ weekend and next year I am using Aberystwyth as a base.
Two linear walks will be on offer and details are as follows.
Saturday 25th April.
We catch the bus (either Trawscymru 1 or 5) from close to Aberystwyth Railway Station southwards along the coast to Llanon (Central Hotel) where we will return to Aberystwyth by following a lovely section of the Wales Coast Path. Distance 12 miles; grade moderate.
Sunday 26th April.
Our walk will start in Aberystwyth and follow the Wales Coast Path north to the edge of Borth where we will turn inland to follow quiet lanes, tracks and paths via Llandre to Bow Street. Distance 10.5 miles; grade moderate. (This walk will require a ‘car drivers only’ car shuttle of approximately 4 miles between Aberystwyth and Bow Street prior to the walk starting).
For anyone who prefers a ‘medium length walk’. Both these walks are tailored to suit anyone wishing not to walk the full distance. On the Saturday walk, buses can be caught back to Aberystwyth from the village of Blaenplwyf which lies about one mile from the coastal path via field paths or alternately the long walk can by joined from Llanrhystud. On Sunday, a train can be caught back from Borth Station to Aberystwyth.
I will have all bus and train timings prior to each walk.
Please book your own accommodation for the weekend and when this is done please advise Colin Park – E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
I will need to know where you are staying and for how many nights.
There is not a vast amount of accommodation in Aberystwyth but details can be found on booking.com, and Airbnb. There is a Premier Inn in the town centre and Park Lodge Hotel on the outskirts of the town.
We can decide this nearer the time. Some of you may want to go to an ‘Indian Restaurant’ or similar. This can be discussed when I know who is going.
